People’s Energy has now ceased trading. Ofgem, the energy regulator, has appointed British Gas to take on People’s Energy’s customers.

Ofgem’s advises you not to switch to another supplier for now. If you want to switch, you should wait until you’re transferred to British Gas, and they’ve contacted you to let you know. This will help make the process of handing over your account as hassle-free as possible. There’s no need to worry, your energy supply is secure, and if you're a domestic customer, your account credit balance is protected. This includes any top-ups you may have made recently as part of the seasonal payments initiative.
